I work with clients to develop e-learning solutions and remote teaching strategies that meet their organizational needs.

Instructional Designing

As an instructional designer, I strive to keep my clients satisfied by creating learning experiences that inspire individuals to reach their full potential. My process follows a backward design model by starting with the project’s purpose and ending with a learning design that meets the client’s needs.

  1. Define the Project
    1. What educational purpose should this project seek to attain?
    2. Establish the Learning Outcomes and Project Goals
    3. Define the Behaviors This Project Seeks to Change
    4. Establish the Delivery Model
    5. Define the Resources Need to Ensure Project Success
    6. Project a Timeline That Includes Clear Agreed Upon Checkpoints and Deadlines
    7. Establish any Project Guardrails
  2. Determine How You Will Measure Success
    • What will enduring understanding look like and how will you know it when you see it?
    • Develop Clear Assessments Aligned With The Established Learning Outcomes and Project Goals
    • Develop Assessment Tools and Measures to Ensure Project Success and Quality
  3. Create the Learning Experience
    1. What learning experiences are needed to ensure that individuals achieve the knowledge, skills, and abilities taught?
    2. Establish the Content for the Project
    3. Design the e-Learning Experiences
    4. Review the Initial Designs Following the Agreed Upon Timeline
    5. Develop Additional Materials
    6. Finalize the Project
    7. Implement and Assess the Project

Remote Teaching and Learning

I have over 30 years of teaching experience with 15 of those years dedicated to online teaching and learning. As a Certified Online Instructor by the Online Learning Consortium, I work with educators to develop online programs that are engaging and rigorous. Drawing on the works by James Lange (2016) and Flower Darby (2020), I take their “small teaching approach” when working with faculty to apply sound learning theory with everyday teaching methodologies. Here are a few of the best practices and pedagogical habits I can help you build into your online teaching repertoire.

  • How to Develop Tasks That Foster Self-Reflection on the Course Learning Outcomes
  • How to Break Large Projects Into Smaller Tasks That Result In a Final Assessment
  • How to Leverage the Technology to Give Feedback Frequently
  • Ways to Create Short Mini Lecture Videos
  • How to Select Technologies That Maximize Learning
  • Ways to Build a Virtual Learning Community
  • Ways to Foster Student Motivation and Persistence That Lead to Success
  • Ways to Foster Student Independence, Accountability, and Autonomy
  • How to Apply Literacy Research and Methodologies to the Online Learning Platform
